Negative ord blir ikkje omsette til morsmål

Fleirspråklege menneske omset umedvite til morsmålet når dei les. Det skjer heilt automatisk, så lesaren merkar det ikkje. Du kan seie at hjernen fungerer som ein simultantolk. Men han omset ikkje alt! Ein studie har vist at hjernen har eit innebygd filter. Dette filteret avgjer kva som blir omsett. Og det ser ut til at filteret overser visse ord. Negative ord blir ikkje omsette til morsmålet. Forskarar valde kinesiske morsmålsbrukarar til eksperimentet sitt. Alle forsøkspersonane hadde engelsk som andrespråk. Forsøkspersonane skulle vurdere ulike engelske ord. Desse orda hadde ulikt emosjonelt innhald. Det var positive, negative og nøytrale omgrep. Medan forsøkspersonane las orda, vart hjernen deira undersøkt. Det vil seie at forskarane målte den elektriske hjerneaktiviteten. Då kunne dei sjå korleis hjernen arbeidde. Når du omset, blir det laga visse signal. Dei viser at hjernen er aktiv. Men ved negative ord viste forsøkspersonane ingen aktivitet. Berre dei positive eller nøytrale omgrepa vart omsette. Forskarane veit enno ikkje kvifor det er slik. Teoretisk må hjernen handtere alle ord likt. Men det kan hende at filteret snøgt ser over kvart ord. Det blir analysert mdan det blir lese på andrespråket. Om eit ord er negativt, blir minnet blokkert. Med andre ord blir ikkje omgrepet tenkt på morsmålet. Menneske kan reagere sterkt på ord. Kanskje hjernen vil verne dei frå emosjonelle sjokk...
